Tribute to Mrs Judy Neville
It is with sadness that we acknowledge the passing of former teacher, Mrs Judy Neville. Judy was a passionate and inspirational teacher of English & History at Glenlola Collegiate for 36 years starting in 1968 until her retirement in 2004. She had a detailed knowledge of, and concern for, each pupil as an individual, which was clearly evident in the path her career took in Glenlola.
An enthusiastic supporter of the House system, Judy was Head of Harte House and was particularly vocal at house hockey and netball matches. She was always quick to sign up for any events especially the Staff v. 1stX1 hockey match. Over the years Judy assisted on numerous school trips and her knowledge of history was a real asset during a school trip to Russia in the early 1980’s.
As Deputy Head of Middle School, Judy’s care, compassion and tireless support for pupils shone out, leading to her becoming the first Head of Pastoral Care.
She was a much loved and respected teacher, colleague and friend. Many were in awe of her ability to recall mothers, aunts, sisters of pupils, always keen to hear how they were and what they were doing. She has left a rich legacy of fond memories of encouraging words, kind acts and a strong sense of duty and service to others.
Judy will be much missed by her husband Alan, daughter Lisa, son-in-law Mark, grandson Ciaran and sister Paddy.
