House Rounders Competition
Friday 18 September saw the first House competition of the autumn term and all of the new Year 8s were thoroughly excited to get involved. Having recently been sorted into their Houses, the Year 8 Rounders competition was a perfect way to get our new pupils involved in the House system. We couldn’t have picked a better day, with the sun splitting the trees over the hockey pitch.
Throughout the course of the afternoon, all Houses got to play each other in an exciting and tense fashion. The first round of matches saw 3 very close matches, with Clanmorris and Dufferin both scoring huge rounders to earn them they only draw of the afternoon.
The second round saw an outstanding performance from the Weir girls, scoring an excellent 13 rounders in their inning. This high scoring was continued in the third round by Hamilton and again by Weir.
The pressure was starting to build in the final two rounds, with some very close scoring – all 6 Houses winning one of their final two matches.
All that was left was for the results to be announced, the wait was quietest the hockey pitch had been all afternoon! Weir were announced the victors, with Hamilton finishing runners up. Well done to all who were involved in the afternoon.
