GCSE Technology and Design Success for Glenlola Pupil

Jan Montgomery, a Year 13 pupil at Glenlola Collegiate, is celebrating success as she was placed second in Northern Ireland for GCSE Technology & Design.

Cool FM Bus

Developed by the PSNI and Cool FM, the project is aimed at making young people more aware of both local and global issues. The pupils from Glenlola chose to focus on Fairtrade and global poverty.

Promoting E-Safety

On Tuesday 9th October 2012 our local, community policeman Ken Bulter was back in school again talking to Junior school about Internet related crime. Ken highlighted the dangers of using the Internet, especially social networking sites. He explained how personal information and in particular the use of photographs can easily be misused.

Former pupil wins prestigious bursary

Congratulations to Shauna Wood who completed her Advanced levels last year and has now been awarded an All Ireland Scholarship Bursary.

Visit of Bernard McLaverty

On the 27th of September the author Bernard McLaverty visited the Year Thirteen English Literature students. He began by reading an extract from his new book “The Anatomy School” in which the protagonist , Martin Brennan, plots to steal exam papers. Once he had finished reading he explained how a simple event such as walking down a corridor can be transformed into a tension filled and dramatic scene by effective use of descriptive language.

Year 12 Business Studies Trip to Dale Farm

On the 12th of September both Business Studies classes attended a trip to the Dale Farm creamery in Dunmanbridge. Our aim on the trip was to gain plenty of knowledge about Dale Farm in the particular areas of its location, new technology and quality assurance to help us with our Controlled Assessment.
