Glenlola Year 13 Pupils Enjoy Public Speaking Successes!

Congratulations to Jessica Galway and Jessica Hughes who were awarded first and third places, respectively, in the local heat of the Soroptimist International Bangor Public Speaking Competition, which was held on Wednesday 28 November 2012 at the Stricklands Care Conference Centre.  The topic of their speeches was ‘Books: Are they a thing of the past?’  The three other schools involved were Bangor Academy, Sullivan Upper and Strathearn School.

Also the other three Glenlola competitors, namely,  Hayley Cummings, Eve Bryans and Emily Hamilton, deserve great credit for the excellent speeches which they delivered too.  One of the adjudicators, Judge Miller, commented on the extremely high standard of the competition this year.

Jessica Galway will represent Glenlola in the NI final on Saturday 23 February 2013 in the Great Hall, University ofUlster, Magee Campus, Londonderry.   The final  will be part of the ‘City of Culture’ programme of events.

Thank you to all the parents and family members who came along to support our pupils.
