Glenlola Soroptimists Public Speaking Success
Congratulations to Rae O’Dowd (Year 13) for winning first place and to Rebecca Campbell (Year 13) for obtaining third place, in the local heat of the Soroptimist International NI Public Speaking Competition, which was held on the evening of Wednesday 26 November 2014 at Stricklands Resource Centre, Bangor. Rae’s winning six minute speech was on the topic, “ Gender Quotas in Politics – Positive or Negative?” and Rebecca chose the title, “Sugar is the New Tobacco.” Rhiannon Wells (Year 13) also competed and delivered a fine speech on the same topic.
Rae will represent Glenlola in the NI final which is to be held in Hillsborough Village Centre on Saturday 7 February 2015. Thank you to the girls’ families for the interest which they have shown in the competition and for their support at the event.
