Duke of Edinburgh Award – Bronze Expedition 2013

On Thursday 20  & Friday 21 June I took part in my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition.   We started at Spelga Dam and from there followed the Ulster Way to Tollymore Forest Park where we camped for the night. We used our trangia to cook a nutrious meal of sweet and sour chicken and rice. After a “wonderful“ night’s  sleep in our trusty tent we negotiated some more paths in Tollymore, crossing into Donard Park and following the beach out towards Dundrum to finish.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience and I am grateful for the opportunity. Although we had some low points where we wanted to lie down and sleep, overall it was great and some new friendships were forged.  I would really recommend the experience and hope to go on to complete my Silver and Gold Awards.
