It is always wonderful to hear how past pupils are getting on after leaving school. It was a proud moment for the Art teachers of Glenlola Collegiate to be able to show a group of “up and coming artists” the work of past pupils while on a visit to the Ulster Museum.

The group were sourcing ideas for their A level portfolio work and viewing the work at the RUA Exhibition when they came across a most fantastic 3 dimensional textile sculpture of a mouse dressed as a bride. The work was that of Lauren Scott, a former Glenlola pupil.

Lauren has made many of these 3D animals which caught the attention of none other than Nick Park of Wallace and Gromit fame while on a visit to the University of Ulster Degree shows. Nick Park has purchased some of Lauren’s animals with the intention of adding Pneumatics to create a new animated production. This is a fantastic accolade for Lauren and is testimony to the hard work she has always put into her work. We in the Art Department are very proud of “the twins” and wish them both continued success.
