Athletics club is open to all pupils from Years 8 to 14. This is one of our more popular clubs due to the continued success the school have achieved.
Indoor training begins around November time with SAQ sessions in the sports hall, concentrating on building speed, stamina and strength. From March time the club then moves outdoors to the Bangor Ballykillaire Sports Track, where all athletes train three times a week. From April, the girls are selected to compete in the District Athletics competition at The Mary Peters Track; if successful in their events they can go onto represent Glenlola at the Ulster Athletics championships at the Antrim Forum.
Track and Field athletics has been one of Glenlola’s most successful sports over the last 20 years. Annually the school have had multiple Ulster schools’ champions and consistent representation in the annual Irish schools championship in Co. Offaly.
