Junior Scripture Union
Junior SU is a place for pupils and staff to worship God, learn from the Bible, be inspired, eat biscuits, play games and have general banter together.
Staff and pupils love the chance to meet every Wednesday afternoon to study God’s word, play games, worship together and consume a phenomenal amount of juice and biscuits. Every other week SU is organised by Year 13 volunteers, who lead small bible studies with each year group. Past Junior SU highlights include the SHINE events and the Fairtrade chocolate party which we held at Easter. This was supported by the Cooperative group and raised support for the charity “Stop the Traffik” who work to end child trafficking in the cocoa industry.
This year we have adopted the Vision “Change the Atmosphere” and will be thinking about how God can use us to impact the people and situations around us.
Although our focus often changes from year to year, there are still a few annual events which we always include:
- The very competitive Junior SU Olympics held at the start of each year
- The Christmas party and Quiz
- The “Grill a Christian” interviews with the Year 13s
- The Year 10 organised week
- The outdoor activity weekend every June at Killyleagh
All pupils in Years 8-10 are very welcome to Junior SU – keep checking our notice board for what’s on. See you there!
Senior Scripture Union
In Senior SU pupils from years 11 to 14 meet to encourage each other in their Christian faith by singing and praying together as well as hearing from a range of speakers in order to learn more about Jesus and His incredible love for us.
During the year we also play games, celebrate with a Christmas Party and go on a Retreat Day or a weekend away, in order to spend time together outside of our normal SU activities.
