Explorer Scouts Summer Camp 2016

exp-1

Glenlola Explorer Scouts held their third Summer Camp during July in at the Venture Centre near Ramsey on the Isle of Man. We were blessed with perfect conditions for our boat journey and treated to spectacular views of the Isle of Man. The centre is situated in beautiful countryside about 3 miles from Ramsey in a converted farm. Though the rooms were compact they were cosy and perfect for the action packed days that lay ahead. Our first day we did some abseiling, climbing and archery. The next day was the busiest with 5 different activities keeping the Scouts busy from 9am-8pm! – sea kayaying, snorkelling, a 120ft cliff abseil, the assault course and finally coasteering on a beautiful sunny evening in a stunning location.

The next 2 days had the Scouts sailing, canoeing, kayaking, raft building, gorge walking, playing wide games and competing in the Venture Centre Challenge. To say that we were tired at the end would be an understatement.

The instructors made the camp special with their enthusiastic attitude. The food at camp was plentiful and very tasty especially the barbeque on the last night.

It was a great camp; we got to know each other better, we challenged ourselves, faced our fears and we fell in love with the beauty of the Isle of Man! Hopefully our photos will give you a taste of what we got up to!
