English Youth Ballet ‘Sleeping Beauty’
Congratulations to Glenlola Collegiate pupils, Sophie Oliver, Emily Egan, Julia Goddard, Sophie Rutledge who fought off steep competition to secure a place in the English Youth Ballet’s production of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ which will be performed at the Grand Opera House from Fri 25 April – Sat 26 April 2014.
This beautiful and spellbinding production of The Sleeping Beauty has been chosen for the company’s first visit to Belfast, promising tradition alongside innovation, including 280 sparkling costumes designed by Keith Bish and impressionist sets by Sebastian Petit, with Amy Drew and Adeline Kaiser alternating the role of Aurora and Oliver Speers and Brenden Bratulic dancing the role of the Prince.
The policy of the English Youth Ballet is to perform full length productions of classical ballet in the regional theatres of the UK, and to give young dancers an opportunity to perform in a classical ballet within a professional setting.
112 male and female dancers from Northern Ireland were chosen to take part in The Sleeping Beauty and these young stars will take to the stage alongside seven professional dancers formerly from companies including the San Francisco Ballet, English National Ballet, Ballet Ireland and Northern Ballet Theatre to bring this enchanting story to life.
