Glenlola Collegiate School has been invited to participate in a Youth-led Peace Event called “Amazing the Space” at the Eikon Exhibition Centre, Maze, on Wednesday 21st September 2016.
This event will involve over 3,000 pupils from over 400 schools, key members of Northern Ireland, links with other people around the globe and involvement of pupil representatives from the schools present.
The girls wrote peace pledges in class and voted for the one they felt, if they lived by, could make peace and positive relationships a permanent reality not only in our society, but in the world. Their agreed pledge has been engraved on a metal leaf, and together with pledges from other schools will form part of a permanent sculpture to be placed in front of the Eikon Centre.
GCS Peace Pledge:
“We pledge to treat others with love, trust and kindness. To respect others’ views and beliefs and to forgive when others wrong us.”
The event will be reported on by the media, so watch out for GCS Year 10 pupils on the news on Wednesday 21st.
