Pupil Wins Horse of the Year 2016 Qualifier
Congratulations to Cerys Howell, who competed at the Northern Ireland Festival 2016 held at Cavan Equestrian Centre from Friday 22nd April to Sunday 24th April.
Cerys won the 153 Horse of the Year 2016 (HOYS) qualifier which was held for the very first time ever on Irish soil on her pony Lulu. First place is the only pony who qualifies and the class was exceptionally strong and included many riders who had travelled from other parts of Britain to try to win the class.
Glenlola is immensely proud of Cerys’ achievements at this high level.
Summing up her feelings, Cerys commented,
“What a NIF I have had! On Friday Lulu came third in the biggest pony performance class out of a lot of clear rounds. On Saturday Alfie came 5th in his novice 143cm and came 4th in the 143cm HOYS qualifier with a clear round!
Miss Lulu jumped a foot perfect round in the 153cm HOYS qualifier and was crowned 1st and to top it off went on to win reserve champion in the HOYS Qualifier Championship.
Well done to all the HOYS golden ticket winners! I’m still in shock, it just doesn’t feel real at all.
A big thanks to my mum and dad and of course Adrienne Stuart and Sylvia Henry. It really does go to prove that hard work and dedication will pay off.”
Headmaster Mr Thompson said “Cerys has been a very keen and talented horsewoman since her days in Cygnet House and we are very proud of her as she celebrates this tremendous achievement. Our congratulations also go to Lulu!”
