Kelly Wins Gold Medal at Winter Olympics
Congratulations to former pupil Kelly Gallagher who created history on Monday 10 March 2014 when she won Britain’s first gold medal on snow, winning the Super-G at the Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi. Kelly and her guide, Charlotte Evans, were the first of the six pairs to compete, clocking a time of 1 minute, 28.72 seconds.

“It was nerve-wracking but I’m delighted with the result,” said Kelly. “It is so good to have such a great reward for all my and Charlotte’s hard work.”
Kelly’s other achievements include winning the silver medal in Super-G at the 2013 World Championships in La Molina, Spain and coming fourth in Giant Slalom at Vancouver Paralympics in 2010.
Commenting on Kelly’s success, Headmaster, Mr Thompson said,
“We were absolutely delighted when the news of our former pupil, Kelly came through from Sochi. During her time at Glenlola Collegiate, Kelly never shirked a challenge but rather showed real courage in the face of adversity. She has always set the highest example for our girls through her determination to succeed.”
