Trash Fashion Success
Kaitlyn Coffey (9C) has made it through to the semi-finals of this years All-Ireland ‘Junk Kouture’ recycling competition. She designed and made a dress and jacket, with the help of Alice McKay (9C), as part of a Geography project which saw students using recycled material to make an outfit. It took over 2 months to make the outfit which used newspaper, bin bags and electrical wiring. Each of these materials were knitted together to form the dress. Her teacher Mrs Sinnerton felt that the quality of the outfit was of exceptional quality and entered it into the Junk Kouture competition.
Kaitlyn will model her outfit at the Millenium Forum in Derry on Friday 8 March 2013 with the hope that it will be chosen to go through to the All-Ireland finals. Part of the judging looks at the number of votes each design receives, so we are asking for you to vote for Kaitlyn’s outfit. This is what you have to do:
Log on to www.junkkouture.com to vote for Kaitlyn’s dress. Voting takes place between Monday 25 February and Friday 1 March and each person can vote once each day. If you got your friend, family and relatives to also vote each day then Kaitlyn could have a good start to her overall score.
Please vote for Kaitlyn’s design which is entitled ‘Electric PicKnit’.
