Eco Council
Do you love the natural world? How about getting outside and protecting our planet? Have you a passion for making our school more eco-friendly? Then get along to Eco Council!
We meet once every two weeks in U36 between 12:45 and 1:20.
Our main aim is to improve the sustainability of our school and enjoy all things Eco together.
We successfully achieved “Green Flag” status and are a recognised Eco School because of the work of the Eco council over the last few years.
We are currently working to improve:
– Biodiversity: through wildlife monitoring with our camera trap, nest box installations and native planting in the school grounds (with the Gardening club)
– Waste management: by providing extra blue bins and a reduction in canteen food waste
– Energy use: by working on a campaign to use less electricity
Recently we have made hedgehog, bird and bat boxes, have completed a litter pick in Castle Park and will be hearing from a guest speaker on sustainability. All those in year 8-14 are very welcome.
