Eco Council

Do you love the natural world? How about getting outside and protecting our planet? Have you a passion for making our school more eco-friendly? Then get along to Eco Council!

We meet once every Tuesday in U18 between 12:30 and 1:10. Bring your lunch!

Our main aim is to improve the sustainability of our school and enjoy all things Eco together.

We successfully achieved “Green Flag” status and are a recognised Eco School because of the work of the Eco council does.

We are currently working to improve:

– Biodiversity: through wildlife monitoring with our camera trap, nest box installations and native planting in the school grounds (with the Gardening club)

– Waste management: by providing extra blue bins, recycling options and litter picks

– Marine life: by studying the impact on our marine ecosystems and by completing a beach clean

Recently we have made hedgehog, bird and bat boxes, have completed a litter pick in Castle Park and won various Eco competitions. All those in year 8-14 are very welcome.
